Because location and fees put expensive downtown firms out of reach for many, Engelman & Smith pioneered the suburban "legal clinic." Thousands of clients brought their legal matters to the firm's storefront office on Chicago Avenue in Evanston. Today, we carry on our successful, common-sense approach to legal problem-solving at our modern offices in beautiful downtown Evanston. We are minutes from the Second District courthouse, near all north suburban title companies and realtors, and extremely convenient for businesses, individuals, and families in the North Shore, suburban, and Chicago north-side communities.

By mass transit: We are only steps from Evanston's new Transit Center at Davis Street, bringing together Metra (North Line) and CTA "L" (Purple Line) stops as well as the many CTA and Pace bus routes (201, 202, 203, 204, 208, 212, 212, 213, 214, 250) that service the community.

By auto: From Wilmette, Winnetka, Glenview, and the North Shore, either Green Bay Road (to Church, then east) or Sheridan Road (to Davis, then west) lead to downtown Evanston.

From Skokie, Morton Grove, Niles, Park Ridge and points west: either Golf Road (turning right on Sherman or Chicago) or Dempster (turning north on Sherman or Chicago) lead to downtown Evanston.

From the north suburbs via the southbound Edens (US 94/41): Exit at Old Orchard Rd., take Old Orchard east approx. 1 mile to Crawford; right at Crawford; left on Golf Rd.; take Golf east approx. 2.5 mi. (it becomes Emerson Ave.) to Sherman Ave., then turn right into downtown Evanston.

From Chicago or the west or northwest via the northbound Edens (US 94/41): Exit at Dempster St. East. Take Dempster approx. 3.5 mi. east to Chicago Ave., then head north 5 blocks.

From Chicago lakefront: Lake Shore Drive north to Sheridan Rd., then left on Davis St.

From north Chicago: Ridge Blvd.; exit east (right) at Lake or Church St.

Parking: 2-hour metered parking (25¢/half-hour) is plentiful but in constant demand. Valet Parking is available in our building (enter on Orrington from Davis). The Evanston municipal parking garage on Sherman combines easy access with reasonable rates.
